Saab has won a contract extension from Airbus to continue to supply the A320-family composite ailerons for the life of the program. Based on the current A320 order backlog of 3,370 aircraft, the initial contract is valued at SEK701 million ($ 103.1 million).
Saab Aerostructures SVP Kjell Johnsson said the contract “further strengthens the partnership between Saab and Airbus.”
Airbus, which plans to boost its A320 production rate from 40/month to 42/month late this year ( ATW Daily News, May 19, 2011 ), has taken delivery of ailerons for the A320 from Saab since 2000. Saab also supplies the mid- and outer-fixed leading edges for the A380.
