Air Malta (KM) has rebranded and will be named Malta–The Airline of the Maltese Islands. The marketing move is intended to shift focus from the airline to its destinations, the Malta Independent reported.
KM chairman Louis Farrugia said the carrier, which posted a 2011 loss of €88.9 million ($ 110.2 million), should return to profitability by 2015. It received a capital injection of €130 million from the Maltese government in June (ATW Daily News, June 28). KM has been undergoing a restructuring process and operates five Airbus A319s and seven A320s.
