Air New Zealand (ANZ) has appointed Christopher Luxon as its next CEO, succeeding Rob Fyfe at year end.

Luxon has served as ANZ’s group general manager-international since May 2011; he is aformer president and CEO of Unilever-Canada.

In a statement, ANZ said Luxon’s extensive international business experience with a strong commercial and customer focus will boost the carrier in an increasingly competitive global market.

“Christopher has world class strategic, commercial, leadership and stakeholder management capabilities proven across multiple markets. These have been highly evident to the Air New Zealand board in the year that he has been with the company and we have seen him affect positive commercial outcomes in our toughest operating division,” ANZ chairman John Palmer said in a statement.
