The air navigation service providers of Austria, the Czech Republic and Hungary have contracted air traffic management consultants Austrian Product Assurance Co. (APAC) and Helios to provide project management services to the Functional Airspace Block Central Europe (FAB CE) initiative through the rest of the year.

APAC and UK-based Helios will support the management of the FAB CE initiative, which addresses the legal establishment, implementation and start of operations of a Functional Airspace Block (FAB) over Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia.

The multi-national project support office team proposed by APAC and Helios will assist with meeting the year-end deadline for setting up FAB CE, as well as preparing the implementation of the FAB and its operational life. The contract includes an option to extend on a yearly basis for another three years.

APAC team leader Susanne Lanzerstorfer said, “Building on our previous work for FAB CE, this is an exciting opportunity to support the establishment and implementation of FAB CE, a milestone in the cooperation between Central European ANSPs.”
