Privately owned Bahrain Air (BN) said it is recovering from last year’s Middle East disturbances with a jump in traffic for the second quarter compared to the same period last year.

The airline announced a 57% increase in passenger traffic year-over-year, with a load factor of 78% compared to 59% a year earlier. Average aircraft utilization also improved by 45% to stand at 13.1 hrs. per day.

BN attributes its recent return to growth to improvements in market conditions and the airline’s continued investment in product and services.

“The last 12 months have been really tough,” CEO Richard Nuttall said. “But there is now clear evidence that the markets are returning. We’ve used this time to invest in upgrading our systems, our products and our organization. We are in a much better place than we were 12 months ago.” BN anticipates outperforming its forecasts for 2012, he said.
