Iberia (IB) canceled several long- and medium-haul flights for Monday and Wednesday, and warned there will be delays as its pilots go ahead with a series of one-day strikes.
SEPLA, the union representing IB’s pilots, is protesting company plans to create a lower-cost carrier, Iberia Express, for its loss-making medium-haul network. The previous two one-day walk-outs were Dec. 18. and Dec. 29 (ATW Daily News, Dec. 29, 2011).
The new strike action coincides with the end of the festive break in Spain.
