Scandinavian lessor Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) has signed a firm purchase agreement for 12 Bombardier CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft, to be leased to Garuda Indonesia (GA). According to Bombardier, the order is valued at approximately $ 595 million at list prices.
GA is Bombardier’s previously announced launch customer for the CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft in the Asia-Pacific region. GA’s 12 leased CRJ1000s, plus six firm-ordered directly from Bombardier in February, will result in a fleet of 18 of the type (ATW Daily News, Feb. 16). If GA converts the 18 options, its CRJ1000 fleet will increase to 36.
“Although it is a relatively new product, the Bombardier CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft is performing extremely well with its current operators, delivering exceptional reliability and the lowest seat-mile costs in its market segment,” NAC chairman Martin Moller said.
GA president and CEO Emirsyah Star said the acquisition of these 12 additional aircraft via NAC “is integral to our network expansion from five regional hubs.”
