Precision Air (PW) has embarked on a $ 90 million fleet modernization program that includes the delivery of four new ATR 42-600s and one new ATR 72-600 during the next two years, beginning in September.

The carrier also announced the start of 3X-weekly Lusaka-Zambia and Lubumbashi-Congo DRC Boeing 737 service beginning June 22, bringing its destinations to 17. It plans to provide connections from Johannesburg to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar via Dar es Salaam, 4X-weekly.

“Precision Air’s new introduction … aims at curbing the air transport woes that the Zambian market was facing,”PW MD and CEO Alfonse Kioko said.

The carrier expects the first and second ATR aircraft to be delivered in September and December, with two more to follow in 2013; final delivery is slated for 2014.
